Taking on Frish’s Big Boy …

We spent a lot of time looking out of airplanes in May…  we enjoy flying …

Cb at Kansas City International Airport

The last post featured our visit west to Albuquerque, New Mexico for our daughter’s graduation and commissioning.

PAPA AND ARI

We also recently travelled east to the Detroit-Toledo region to attend a family memorial service for Terri‘s father, Dave Anderson, who passed on during winter in January.

Although, the circumstances of our visit were not what we would have preferred, it was nonetheless wonderful to see the family in person.

It was also nice to visit that area of this great country.

TERRI AND UNCLE TREVOR

… and stayed with
Terri‘s brother John and his wife, Beth
at their place there for a few days too.

TERRI WITH BROTHER MIKE AND FAMILY

We played our flutes too.

DUETS NEAR LAKE ERIE

We visited fun places from the past too.

Terri worked at this particular Frish’s “Big Boy”restaurant in the 1970s during high school and while she attended Bowling Green State University, prior to her joining Army Bands as a flute player.

* www.Frishs.com: From creating Cincinnati’s first Drive-in restaurant to introducing us to the famous double-decker Big Boy sandwich, Frisch’s has been a part of our lives for close to a century. [http://www.frischs.com/history.htm]

Cb versus Frish’s Big Boy

It was a huge sandwich…

Not to mention, the huge order of onion rings on the side … and the root beer!

Looks like the power of his running start has taken me by surprise… Or, did it?  Stay tuned for the conclusion…

Home to Kansas City, Kansas City here we come … :D

Love the pictures! You two really had a great time!!! :D I love to drive and fly too. Must be the ‘military’ in me!

  2. Cb says:

Thanks, MJ! Travelling is likely the primary thing that I miss about being active duty military as well. May 2010 was indeed a month of milestones and passages for our family. Looking forward to seeing you when you come home this summer too! :D

  3. Keenan Bull says:

Chris, Congratulations on life, family, and career success!! I’m one of your former students at the University of Missouri-Rolla (CE ’01) (Now MS&T) known by few as the “Jazz Giant of the Mid-west”! Right!? Well, we had pretty good band and I enjoyed your teaching and learned a lot from you. I played and still play trumpet at my church (Church on the Rock, St. Peters, MO) and am branching out to tenor sax to try to expand my range of sound! It’s great seeing you and your family doing great things. Keep up the good work and the great music and may God bless all that you do. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

  4. Cb says:

Keenan, Thanks, man. It is great to hear from you and get your updates as well. Glad to read that you are still playing your trumpet and adding a saxophone to your repertoire too – wow. Teaching the University of Missouri-Rolla (now MS&T) jazz course will remain very significant to me on several levels. All of you were great students of the music. And, I hope that if you ever get to this side of the state, you’ll let me know and perhaps we can get together for food and jazz somewhere in Kansas City. I’ll do the same when I am in the St. Louis metro. Cool? Peace, Cb
